Having been a fan, I could not resist the temptation to buy a Predator sculpture. I was not disappointed, it is awesome, and sits in the corner of my office, watching over me!...
These metal sculptures are mind blowing. I have seen some before from other artists, but the workmanship in these is in another league.........
Absolutely amazing.........
Brilliant, he is certainly a very talented guy.........
Our Alien sculpture glass topped coffee table is a real talking point.........

We first met Mai Sudjai back in 2003, during a visit to the busy Jatujak market in Bangkok. While walking down the narrow walkways of this weekend market, we came across Mai's stand. Impressed by the quality of his exhibits, and the enthusiasm he showed for his metal sculptures, we started talking to him about the possibility of importing his scrap metal art to the UK. Soon after our initial meeting, we arranged a visit to his workshop, and showroom in Bangkok. Since our first meeting we have become very good fiends, and always visit Mai at his home in Bangkok during our frequent visits to Thailand.
As a young artist Mai moved to Bangkok after graduating from Hadyai Technical School to pursue his a career in sculpting. Initially he created sculptures using fibreglass, and resin. During the late nineties, the Thai economy hit hard times, and the demand for modern art diminished. Mai took a break from his sculpting to pursue other forms of art. With a background in mechanics, he started collecting metal parts from nearby scrap yards, and welding them together to create sculptures. He first sculptures were small consisting of only a few parts, however he soon progressed to larger sculptures, containing thousands of parts. As the popularity for his sculptures increased he employed a number of skilled welders to meet demands. He now has half a dozen full time welders, and has recently moved into a larger workshop located on the outskirts of Bangkok.
Mai has received many commissions from around the world. Works have included a seven metre long dinosaur skeleton for an Australian museum, futuristic metal robots for gaming arcades in Tokyo, and promotional props for Hollywood.
Undoubtedly one of the first artists to use scrap metal for sculpting, Mai's work has been copied by a number of others, however his work remains the best available. Many of the others use a high percentage of fabricated parts to enable them to minimise production times, and create large numbers of sculptures for sale at low prices at the markets located in the busy tourist areas of Thailand. Some have poor quality welding, or low quality, poorly applied protective lacquer.
We have looked at scrap metal sculptures from the other major groups, some cost less, but the quality is inferior. Yes, we may be biased, however we truly believe that Mai's work remains the best. Indeed during a recent visit to see Mai, I asked him if he was worried about the competition, "No" was the reply, he then walked over to one of his latest creations, and preceded to show me why his work is superior to his competitors. While pointing to the body of the full size sculpture, he explained that while his work uses many hundreds of parts to create this part, the best of his competitors would use only a few dozen. In Mai's own words, "I will not lower my standards, in an attempt to reduce costs. I want to remain the best, and believe their are people who are prepared to pay the additional cost".
Scrap metal sculptures from Mai Sudjai offer the ultimate quality, at an affordable cost. Being handmade, each sculpture is unique.
We also supply a range of magnetic sculptures, and movie memorabilia.
